What is a Color Temperature/Kelvin Rating? What kind of light does it apply to?

Color temperature, or Kelvin, refers to the color of light emitted by a light source. There is a spectrum of color that LED and Fluorescent lights can produce, and the kelvin rating helps determine where your light falls on the spectrum. A warmer LED light will have a color temperature around the 3,000k range or lower, and has more yellow coloring mixed into the light. A cooler LED light will have a color temperature around 5,000k or higher, and has more white and blue tinged light mixed in.
